Holidays

We have four different types of holiday. Our Easter holidays start on February and last two weeks. The summer holidays last 6 weeks and the autumn and Christmas holidays both last two weeks.
Holidays in Germany are sometimes different in every region. It could be that summer holidays start in June or in July.
We have some special days where we don’t have to go to school. For example “Tag der deutschen Einheit (3.10.2007)” and “Friedensfest (8.8.2007)” are one of the 16 bank holidays we celebrate.
Christmas, New Year and Eastern are the most popular bank holidays for us.
If there are any questions…ask me ;-)

Our mark system in Germany

About the Marksystem in Germany

Here we have just 6 kinds of marks, from 1 to 6.
It is different from Spain we are happy if we get a 1, because it’s the best mark you can get in our schools. The worst is a six, the average is that you get 3.
Between the mainmarks you get a little up or down.
For example if you are not good enough for a 3 but too good for a 4
either, you get a 3-. The other possibility is that you get a 3+ if you are too
good for a usual 3 but not enough for 2.
If we have our final exam we need a 4 at least to pass the exam.
Whats also different from spain is that we get two types of marks, firstis
The mark for class tests and exams.
The second typ is a mark for your working in the class like how often
you say something in the lesson or for your presentation.
At the end of a year the marks add up to your final mark.

Our school

Here are some pieces of information about our school. It`s called “Freiherr-vom-Stein-Berufskolleg”. We are a commercial school with about 2500 pupils. They all are between 16 and 24 years old. Of course we have pupils who are older than 24 years old. But most of them attend the evening classes.
Here you can make different types of certificate. BTEC national
diploma and high school diploma you can get here.
There are about 100 teachers who teach business studies.
But not just business studies, also subjects like sport, English, Spanish, religion and physics for example are components of our timetable.
At this school are many pupils from other countries. It ´s very interesting to know something about other cultures.
The lesson starts at 8:00am in the morning and we can leave the school at 1:00 pm every day. We have two 15 minutes breaks where we can eat or chat with other pupils. One lesson is about 45 minutes long. I think, that this system is very good because we have free time the whole afternoon. Many pupils enjoy it and other pupils go to work for money.
Please, send us something about your school and pictures of you!!!
Bye, Bye
Sebastian
